All the Light We Cannot See is the story about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II. There’s a reason this book won the Pulitzer in 2016. The amazing Le Creuset! Laurent wouldn’t cook with anything else and neither do I. My set is wildly mismatched from discontinued colors in the vintage pieces I inherited from my father, who taught 
me to cook (see how the whole male-cooking-thing was a natural in the Maggie books?) to the newer updated casserole shades. (J’adore the Marseille blue.) Until Ladurée starts shipping to the States (they don’t at the moment) this will tide you over for macarons. Ideal to give of course but here’s where hoarding makes sense too. I love art coffee table books and this one does the trick when you need a breath of Provence but no time to actually go yourself. Cézanne and Provence The Painter in His Culture is $40.
I assume most people who are interested in France have seen Woody Allen’s
love letter to Paris, Midnight in Paris, but I include it here because when you need a hit of Paris there’s
nothing easier (or cheaper) than curling up with this
beautiful movie–over and over again.
